Lonette Bolden-Smith, MA, BSN, RN, CMC
I graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology. Following this I obtained a Master of Arts in Counseling from Webster University in 2006. I found my niche in working with older adults as a Social Services Director for a local nursing home for over 10 years. In this position, I learned of my true passion for working with older adults and their families. Initially, my goal was to work in the nursing home setting until I completed my graduate studies however, I found it difficult to leave because of my passion for the work I was doing. Eventually, I felt that I needed more and had the capability of doing more. I decided to pursue a degree in Nursing and in 2018 I obtained my Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Herzing University. Following this I did bedside nursing for a local hospital on a Cardiac PCU unit and eventually transitioned to being a discharge planner. Despite having these newfound skills, I continued to gravitate towards older adults and the need to provide guidance and help. I am proud to say that I now have experience in professional care management and am a member of the Aging Life Care Association®. I truly enjoy working in this capacity and feel that I am able to bring together all of my experience in working with older adults in the nursing home, hospital, and community setting. I possess a wealth of knowledge of resources in the Central Florida area and in helping to navigate through the Aging Life Care ™ process. I am passionate about my work, advocacy, and the quality of life of the people I serve.
April Hostler, MA, CCC-SLP
I began my career in a small, 60-bed nursing facility. Early on in my career I quickly recognized the diverse needs of older adults, and I gained invaluable insights into the importance of compassionate care, often finding that this focus was not always prioritized in the healthcare field. I realized the benefits of a person-centered approach early on in my journey.
Throughout my tenure in short-term rehabilitation and long-term care centers I have realized my passion lies in providing quality care and building meaningful relationships with those I am able to work with and strive to guide them through the challenging obstacles that many in this community face.
With experience in both direct care and in healthcare management roles, I have consistently advocated for a different approach to the care of the under-served older adult population and sought professional connections that held the same ideas as my own. I believe that personalized attention and problem-solving are key to enhancing the quality of life for individuals and their families.
I am thrilled to dedicate my efforts to helping individuals and families identify solutions that improve well-being through care and personal interactions.
A native of Orlando, Florida, I earned my Master’s degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Central Florida in 2004 and proudly hold the American Speech and Language Association’s Certificate of Clinical Competence and professional license as a Speech and Language Pathologist and I will continue to be an enthusiastic advocate for the older adult community. It has been my pleasure to work with older adults throughout my entire career and I have the same passion today as I had over 20 years ago in that 60-bed nursing facility.
